  • Purchase & Subscription Information: transaction history, subscription status, coin balances, and payout‑related records (excluding full payment card details).
  • Technical & Device Information: device type, operating system, app version, language settings, IP address (where applicable), and usage logs.
  • Diagnostics & Crash Data: anonymised error logs, performance metrics, and troubleshooting data used to improve app stability.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, improve, and protect the Novora Service. Specifically, we may use your information for:

  • Account Management – to create, authenticate, maintain, and secure user accounts.
  • Service Delivery – to provide reading features, publish and distribute author content, track reading progress, and personalise your experience.
  • Payments & Subscriptions – to process in‑app purchases, manage subscriptions, maintain coin balances, and verify transactions through Apple, Google, or payment providers.
  • Author Monetisation – to calculate earnings, manage revenue distribution, process payouts, and maintain financial records required for compliance.
  • Content Moderation & Safety – to review reports, enforce community standards, prevent abuse, and maintain a safe platform environment.
  • Fraud Prevention & Security – to detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity, unauthorised access, payment abuse, or platform manipulation.
  • Service Improvement – to analyse usage trends, troubleshoot technical issues, enhance performance, and develop new features.

4. User‑Generated Content & Moderation

Novora enables users to create, publish, and share content, including stories, chapters, forum posts, comments, messages, and other user‑generated materials (“User Content”). You are solely responsible for the content you create, upload, or publish on the Service.

To maintain a safe and respectful environment, Novora implements in‑app reporting tools, user blocking, automated detection systems, human moderation, content restriction, age‑gating, and account sanctions (warnings, suspensions, or permanent bans). We may review, monitor, restrict, or remove User Content that violates our Terms of Service, Community Standards, or applicable laws.

5. Legal Basis for Processing (UK & EU Users)

If you are located in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, we process your personal data only where we have a valid legal basis under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, including performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation, or consent.

6. Payments & Financial Data

All in‑app purchases and subscriptions are processed securely through Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). Author payouts are processed through Stripe Connect. Novora does not collect, store, or have direct access to your full credit or debit card numbers.

7. Coins & Virtual Items

Novora offers virtual digital items (“Coins”) that may be used within the Service to unlock chapters, premium stories, or other digital content. Coins are licensed, not sold, and have no real‑world monetary value. They cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred between users, or refunded except as required by law.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data to third parties for marketing purposes. We may share limited personal information with trusted third‑party service providers (cloud hosting, payment processors, analytics, security) that assist us in operating the Service under appropriate contractual safeguards.

9. Analytics & Diagnostics

We use analytics tools and diagnostic technologies to understand how users interact with the Service, improve performance, and resolve technical issues. Analytics data does not include the full text of private reading content, personal messages, or full payment card information.

10. Data Storage & Security

We store personal data on secure cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, authentication safeguards, and monitoring systems. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Service, maintaining security, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and complying with legal obligations. You may permanently delete your account at any time by navigating to Profile → Delete Account. Account deletion removes your profile information, authentication credentials, and personal account data from active systems within a reasonable period.

Novora is intended exclusively for users aged 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect or process personal data from individuals under the age of 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account or submitted personal information, we will take prompt steps to delete such data and terminate the associated account.

15. International Data Transfers

Your personal information may be processed or stored in countries outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. Where international transfers occur, we implement appropriate safeguards in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including Standard Contractual Clauses or data processing agreements.

16. Subscription & Billing Privacy

All subscriptions, in‑app purchases, and billing transactions are processed by Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android), which act as independent payment providers. You may manage, modify, or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in legal requirements, business practices, or platform features. If we make material changes, we will provide notice within the app or by other appropriate means prior to the changes taking effect.
